Happy Halloween!

Yay!!! Happy Halloween to you too!!! I love Halloween!! Mom and Dad used to turn off all the lights in the house and we'd all go downstairs and watch ABC's Halloween cartoons and movies all night, eat popcorn and ignore the trick or treaters. Mom made these popcorn balls with jell-o, yum, we loved 'em. It was sugar, why not? I think they were too nervous we'd get hurt if we trick or treated. The first time (and the last time) I ever went as a child was that year Kirsten dressed up as Lisbeth and walked around with you and I dressed up as you and walked around with Lisbeth. Of course, no one really got it because it was an inside joke but we thought it was hilarious. Anyway- Happy Halloween!!

ha ha that is awesome, pretty creative. How old were you? I never knew that you couldnt go trick or treating. Or was it not really an issue becuase you were excited to eat the popcorn balls and watch the movies?

i wanted to go pretty much every year but the whole family party thing seemed to be enough for me because I dont remember feeling too left out.I loved the ward party too and that was pretty much all I needed. we did that til we moved to California and then the october that mom died is the halloween that we went trick-or-treat-ing...thats my memory of it anyway.
Susan hates the whole sugar part of it. We had a ward party Saturday night and the kids went from room to room playing games and leaving with candy (which I think was totally unnecessary- they still had all the trick or treat or trunk or treat parties to go to on Wednesday but whatever) so Lacey got home with her big bag of candy, after having a really fun night and she ate every single piece. Susan's rule is "eat as much as you want and get it over with because whatever is left goes in the sugar box" which has a lock and key. So Lacey sat on her bed and ate every single one. She ended up so sick that she was on the floor in the bathroom, howling in pain. At first I felt sorry for her but I decided it was a good thing because Lacey is pretty much addicted to sugar and maybe because of this, she will remember that night forever and always be careful. Sugar is fun, in its place but it definitely needs to be treated with respect or you always pay. There's the thought for the day!
So what did you do?

wow, i think that is a good idea. I am pretty sure that she will remember that. I am just not sure that she will learn her lesson just this one time...i think it may take a couple times. I guess we will see.

that is a good idea, just celebrating as a family. I worry a lot about people tampering with the candy, so we just went up and down the main businesses in our area and trick or treated there. One more plus to mom's Idea, you don't have to figure out costumes every year. This year damian was a farmer boy- dirty white shirt, denim overalls and I used make-up for the dirt on his face and feet. Me, I put my hair up, powdered it with flour and dressed in one of the maternity dresses with some gaudy jewlery and voila, I was an old lady. kinda cheesy, but oh well. when nate got off work, he had a gift card for applebees, so we went to eat dinner, and were home just after 8, put baby to bed and I think I went to bed not too long after. I've been real tired lately. And about the sugar thing, I remember eating too much sugar at valentines and I got really sick, and since then (about second grade) I don't really like the type of candies i ate, and I am sure not to eat too much. Anyways, sorry for Lacey, but it's a lesson learned I would think
